Nvidia’s $1T Forecast Doesn’t Move AI Leaderboard Odds on Kalshi

QUICK PICK

Jensen Huang projected $1 trillion worth of orders for Nvidia’s Blackwell and Vera Rubin chips at GTC this week, but the Kalshi market tracking which AI company tops the LMSYS Chatbot Arena Leaderboard has not moved — xAI trades at a last price of 43¢ and Z.ai at 12¢, with zero open interest and no recent activity across both contracts.

THE SETUP

The KXTOPAI series on Kalshi pays out if a named AI organization — such as ByteDance — holds the sole number-one ranked large language model (with no ties) on the LMSYS Chatbot Arena Leaderboard on any single day after issuance and before January 1, 2027; if the top-ranked LLM is tied with another, the payout criterion is not fulfilled. Nvidia makes the chips many of these models run on, but Nvidia itself is not a contract entity here. Hardware revenue projections do not determine leaderboard rankings, so the GTC announcements have no direct path to moving these contracts.

THE STRATEGY

The wide spreads tell the real story. Z.ai’s 4¢ bid against a 17¢ ask means buyers and sellers are 13¢ apart with no depth on either side — that is not a market with informed directional views, it is a market that has not been discovered yet. XAI’s narrower 41¢–47¢ spread is more tradeable but still illiquid. The 43¢ last price on xAI implies traders price Grok at roughly a coin-flip chance of reaching number one at some point before 2027, but that price reflects prior positioning, not a response to this week’s news.

THE PAYOFF

Watch the LMSYS leaderboard directly for movement from xAI’s Grok models, which would be the most likely catalyst to shift the xAI contract. The no-tie rule in the contract terms matters — payout requires a clear solo number-one ranking on any single day before January 1, 2027; a shared top ranking, even briefly, does not fulfill the criterion.

CONTRACT NOTES

Payout requires a solo number-one ranking on any single day after Issuance and before January 1, 2027; a tie with another LLM does not fulfill the payout criterion. A tie at the top, even briefly, does not count. This is market commentary, not financial advice. Always verify contract terms and do your own research before placing any trades.
